One God, One Community

One God, One Community

In 2014, the rabbi, along with Reverend Kevin Fleming of First Presbyterian Church and Dr. Mohammad Hussain from the Islamic Center of Evansville formed the One God One Community Program. In 2017, St. Benedict’s Cathedral along with Father Godfrey Mullen joined the group.

The premise of One God Community is that there is far more that unites the faith communities than divides us.  Through education, fellowship and friendship, strong bonds have developed among the congregations involved. Approximately six times a year, the group gathers (rotating among each house of worship) for a night of learning on topics ranging from: Sacred Space, Holiday Observance, Life Cycle Ceremonies, Social Justice, Mercy and Compassion, Theology, History and more. The educational component is always followed by food and socializing.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the faith leaders of One God One Community recorded the following video to help bring some peace and comfort to our members:

COVID Memorial Service

Recently, we held a memorial service for those lost from COVID-19 in response to a request from President Biden.  He asked all houses of worships to ring their bells and pray the day before the inauguration. That service can be found here.
