Tzedakah Committee Update
We hope your year is off to a great start, and that 2024 will ultimately be a wonderful one for
all of us.
Sadly, because of housing and food deficits, it won’t be that for all or many. Since Tzedakah is a central tenant of Judaism, our new committee (replacing the EJCC) had hoped that TABI membership might be able to benefit Israel and our greater Evansville community.
Doing so adds commitment to our commandment and displays the generosity of the Jewish community right here at home.
Frankly, we were disappointed in the year end response, and hoped that we could ‘sweeten the overall pot’ before we allocate these critical funds at an upcoming meeting. Because  this was our first year in operation we felt that we had budgeted conservatively in hopes of raising $25,000 or more. At this writing, we are $10,000 short of that goal with fewer than 20 congregants participating.
As we plan TABI’s distributions for much needed humanitarian aid at home and in Israel, we would like to resolicit participation as  the need for just the basics continue to grow.
Thank you to those who participated in our initial ask and to all who are inclined to still participate.  Please consider the vast needs and mail your check to the Temple office at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for you consideration.

Mostly Kosher Performance for the Under the Beams Concert Series and Dinner at Say’s Restaurant – Saturday, March 16th.  Performance at 7:30pm.  Dinner before (time TBD). MOSTLY KOSHER, the acclaimed Klezmer/Rock band, radically reconstructs Judaic and American cultural music through ravenous klezmer beats and arresting Yiddish refrains. Mostly Kosher is a musical feast that explodes into a global food-fight of Jazz, Latin, Rock, and Folk.
The band’s self-titled debut album has won international acclaim by World Music Network, Songlines Magazine, and BBC radio. The first track, Ikh Hob Dikh Tsufil Lib (I Love You Much Too Much), was recognized as one of World Music Network’s Top 6 Songs of 2014.
Mostly Kosher’s music videos have been garnering accolades on the film festival circuit, receiving two nominations at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema and Best Music Video at the Glendale International Film Festival. 2021 will mark the indie film debut of Mostly Kosher, as they will be featured in the wedding scene of the upcoming feature film, “The Accursed”, starring Izabela Vidovic and Melora Walters.

Women’s Torah Study-
TABI is excited to announce the restarting of the Women’s Torah study beginning at the beginning with B’reishit. Join fellow congregants as we bring the women of the Torah into the limelight and bring women’s perspectives into the interpretation of our sacred text.  These “lay lead” study sessions will be held before Saturday morning services, allowing us to bring new perspectives and enriching the discussions during regular Shabbat services.
April 6:  Sh’mini
May 4:  Acharei Mot

Thank you to those who have helped restock the grocery and gas cards for our Give One Take One program. We can always use more, so please think of those who are in the need the next time you go to the store or the gas station and perhaps pick up one $20.00 card to donate. The baskets are located on the wall next to the Rabbi’s office.

We received our shipment of Blue Ribbons as part of the #BlueRibbonsforIsrael campaign. Ribbons are in the temple office and available on a first come first served basis. They will also be available on Shabbat.
You can read about other ways you can participate in this campaign at this site:
Let’s all pray that each and every hostage is released safely and soon.
For the past many years, our worship has been streaming on LiveStream.
Each week, a link is created and sent out via email and our “channel” is also accessible via our website. Livestream and Vimeo have merged, and they are doing away with “basic” plans like ours. The cost to continue our service is now prohibitive.
For the foreseeable future, our service will now stream on the TABI Facebook
