Volunteer Oppurtunities
Hello TABI families! Our TABI community has been given the opportunity to share our resources and talents with the Immigrant Welcome and Resource Center here in Evansville. It is such a privilege to be able to offer support, and it is our hope that many of our members will be able to offer a helping hand in this endeavor. The IWRC’s mission is to serve as a partner and advocate for immigrants by providing opportunities that help them thrive in our community. Their mission aligns well with TABI’s and is a perfect way to demonstrate our support for the immigrants in our area.
The most immediate needs are:
-this Sunday, January 12th, where volunteers are needed to clean and move furniture in the Center’s new space. This will begin at 12:30, with an ending time yet to be determined.
-next Saturday, the 18th, at 1pm, where volunteers are needed to pick up and transport desks to the Center. Those who have trucks are especially needed!
Below please also find several more of the upcoming activities that the IWRC will be working on over the next couple of weeks at their new building on 500 S. Green River Road(Goodwill building:)
1) Removing old decal letters from the large group meeting space on the first floor (old GoodSkills Academy space)
2)Reattaching blinds and light and outlet plates that were removed for painting
3) Cleaning ventilation desks in the offices
4) Potentially: installing 1-2 SMART TVs on the 2nd floor large group meeting space (we are fundraising and soliciting in kind support for these TVs currently so this will be one of the later tasks to complete)
5)Helping the Latino Center (currently located at Washington Square Mall) move to 500 S. Green River Road (they will be sharing space with us).
A full schedule is not yet determined due to the weather setbacks but the Center is aiming to complete these tasks between now and the end of the week of January 13th. TABI is able to have access to the building throughout the week and weekends, and the IWRC is flexible and willing to work with our group on specific work dates and times once we know how many volunteers we will have for each need.
Please contact Kate Murray via email at katebth@hotmail.comif you are able and willing to help with any of these worthy projects. Let’s work together to provide a safe and secure spot for all of the immigrants in our community to feel safe, value and loved. Thank you in advance for your support in this worthy cause!

TABI Heritage Map Project
TABI Heritage Map Project is underway!
Where were you born? Are you an Evansville native or a transplant?
Did your grandparents immigrate from another country?
Help us map our collective ancestry by filling out a simple form on our website https://templeabi.org/tabi-heritage-map. We will collect the data and everyone who submits their family history will be represented by pins in beautiful maps that will hang at TABI as a part of our Library Archive Project.
